I Reinstall Windows 7 Do I Have to Enter the Key Again

Reinstall Windows Preinstalled On Computer

OEM computer manufacturers are required to provide at least one way for you to reinstall Windows if you buy a computer with Windows preinstalled - your computer should have included either a restore partition on your hard drive, or Windows install/restore disks. Most computer manufacturers also have a feature to make your own install disks.

If the restore partition is still there and was not removed, it will reinstall Windows. There is usually a prompt when you first start the computer telling you what key to press to start the restore - check your manual if you're not sure how to. Or if you have install disks - insert them, restart and boot from them to start the reinstall process.

If you restore it to factory condition, it will be like it was when you first bought it - all preinstalled programs will be installed. Anything you installed after buying it must be reinstalled. This will remove any personal files on the computer, back them up first.

You will have to reinstall, using the manufacturer's Recovery system, if it's still working - see your manual.

If it's not available for any reason, then you can order a set of Recovery disks from teh manufacturer - then use them for th ejob.

This will wipe ALL data from the hard drive - so back up to external media first!

Sorry for not getting back, I have downloaded and burned Windows 7 Home Premium to a disk but when I try to install it says something about drivers and the CD/DVD device can't be found or something like that. Do I need to downloadmy drivers? If so can you show me how. Thanks for the support!

Hi,

1. What is the exact error message that you get?

2. When do you get this error message?

3. Do you get the error when you put the disk in CD/DVD drive and try to boot from it?

4. Is your CD/DVD drive working correctly with Windows 7 Ultimate edition?

I would suggest you to run the fixit from the following link:

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/

Hope it helps.

If you have any non-essential devices attached to the laptop, try disconnecting them, this includes external storage devices such as External hard disk or thumb drive.

Its possible that the disc image of Windows 7 Home Premium you burnt might be corrupt, download and burn it again to a blank DVD at the lowest speed supported by your DVD burner.

If the problem persist, then it suggest the disc image is a corrupt download, I would suggest you make another attempt at downloading and burn to a blank DVD again.
